Hadapt and MapR Partner, Allowing Companies' Hadoop Products to Work in Conjunction

Hadoop technology company MapR Technologies recently partnered with Hadapt, the only data analytics platform integrating SQL with Apache Hadoop. The pairing of these two companies allows customers to leverage MapR Distribution for Hadoop alongside Hadapt's Interactive Query capabilities, which allow for analysis of all types of data — structured, semi-structured and unstructured — in a single platform.

“The MapR Distribution provides unrivaled enterprise-class Hadoop capabilities including high availability with self-healing, data protection and disaster recovery,” said Scott Howser, VP of marketing, Hadapt. “We have already brought interactive applications on Hadoop to market and now, through this partnership with MapR, we are providing customers additional ease of use, performance and reliability advantages.”

Together, Hadapt's Adaptive Analytical Platform and MapR Distribution allow business analysts the ability to harness the Hadoop ecosystem via SQL, while conducting investigative analytics on a unified platform without the need for connectors, complexities or rigid structure. This combined solution also alleviates the barriers of entry in the enterprise environment by way of features like no single point of failure and disaster recovery.

MapR Technologies recently set a new 1TB TeraSort benchmark record of 54 seconds using the Google Compute Engine, besting the previous record set by Yahoo by eight seconds. This feat is particularly impressive when noting that MapR was able to achieve this time with 1/6 the disks, 1/3 the cores and 2/3 the servers of Yahoo's record.

In October, Hadapt launched version 2.0 of its Adaptive Analytical Platform, introducing the industry's first interactive applications on Hadoop via Hadapt Interactive Query, the Hadapt Development Kit for custom analytics and Tableau Software integration.
